Hi Robert, <p>I am sure you will find a few solutions out there. I have used a couple of different ones. <p>I would look for something that allows restricted state paging. Also, remember that if you do not use a modem to send pages out then whatever service (HTTP, etc.) you are using must be running at all times. I have had a few problems where the paging software active jobs receive an error (sometimes because of an object lock or overflowing a physical file) and the paging software does not send out pages. <p>Having a human being watch for actual console messages is far superior to the paging software. But we know there is a trade-off. <p>And last but not least, make certain if you use LPARS that the primary partition is watched for hardware errors. In particular, watch for dasd filling up or a disk failure. This could cause you major problems for the secondaries if you lose the primary. This does not apply for the HMC though. <p>Just my thoughts on this subject. <BR>

We use Messenger Plus from Bytware and are reasonably satisfied with it.

I setup Robot Console and Robot Alert at a client. Quite powerful, very good tech support, and my client's satisfied with it so far.

I second the vote for the Robot system.

I am interested in possible paging software solutions to run on a 400 or set of 400's. <p>Our goal is to capture break messages to QSYSOPR and then trigger a page(s) and alert an On-Duty Operation's pager of *INQ messages breaking to QSYSOPR on one or more 400 systems.
