You can still use RPG IV (ILE RPG) without the free form. <p>There is no need to go all the way back to RPG III. <p>Dave

moving to rpg/ile would be easier, if that is possible. <p>the free format syntax, in most cases only needs to be made columnar to work. the %BIFS, etc still function the same way. <p>this situation probably points out that two sets of code back-up need be maintained at your company. one for clients not able to use /free and one for clients who can. <p>-bret

Does anyone know of a tool or a way to convert RGP Free Form Syntax back to RPGIII? The company I work for still has clients that are on V4.5 and the Free Form syntax of course will not compile. We may have to rewrite the code in RPGIII
