Forums RulesThe following rules are designed to ensure the integrity of these forums that we provide for your benefit. These rules are standard to the industry: · First and foremost, keep all commentary civil and professional, and be courteous at all times. Constructive criticism is welcome, but insults directed toward other users will not be tolerated. Coarse/insulting language will not be tolerated. · Before asking a question, use the search function to check whether your question has been previously asked and answered. · Post your comment/question to the most appropriate place. Do not cross-post the same question to multiple places. · Choose an appropriate thread title. Summarize the topic briefly in the title, and elaborate in the message itself. Do not use all caps and do not add false information just to get attention (e.g., "Read this or you will be arrested"). An example of a bad thread title would be "HELP ME." A good title might be "Drawbacks to Variable-Length Fields." Do not use a URL as a thread title. · Include as much information as you can when seeking help. This may include, for example, code samples or the specific wording of error messages. Other readers will be better able to help you if you give sufficient detail. · Make sure you have read the parent article or the forum thread completely before posting a reply.
· Keep all posts on topic. · Thank those who help you. Acknowledgement of a helpful suggestion is not only courteous, but also indicates to others with similar problems that this could be the solution for them as well. Those who have been helped on this forum are encouraged to help other users by responding to their questions when they know the answer.· Only one account per person is permitted. · Do not astroturf or pretend to be or represent somebody else. Your account will be deleted if found to be in breach of this rule. · Do not discuss illegal activities. Our server is hosted in the · Use your own words. Posting excessive, inappropriate, and unnecessary references to your products and Web sites is self-promotion. · This is not the place to settle disputes with vendors about commercial products. Nor is it meant to be a "wall of shame." Posts of this nature will be removed. Settle your disputes in private, please.
· These forums are centered on technology matters. Discussions that aren't relevant to technology should be entered in the Shooting the Breeze section.
