IBM Storwize V5000 and Storwize V7000 Deliver New Drive Options for High-Performance Environments

The following drives are now available on IBM Storwize V5000:

 

    • 600 GB 15,000 rpm 12 Gb SAS 2.5-inch disk drive

 

    • 600 GB 15,000 rpm 12 Gb SAS 3.5-inch disk drive

 

 

The 3.5-inch large form factor (LFF) drive is a 2.5-inch small form factor (SFF) drive delivered in a 3.5-inch LFF carrier.

 

A 600 GB 15,000 rpm 12 Gb SAS 2.5-inch disk drive is now also available for Storwize V7000 Models 124, 224, and 324.

 

These drives are dual-port and hot-swappable, offering higher capacity options for high-performance environments.

 

Additionally, Storwize V5000 and Storwize V7000 flash (solid state) drives are offered under new feature numbers for supply continuity purposes:

 

    • 200 GB 12 Gb SAS 2.5 Inch Flash Drive

 

    • 400 GB 12 Gb SAS 2.5 Inch Flash Drive

 

    • 800 GB 12 Gb SAS 2.5 Inch Flash Drive

 

 

All these new drives support up to a 12 Gb per second data transfer rate, but operate up to only a 6 Gb per second data transfer rate when installed in Storwize V5000 and Storwize V7000 systems.
