Have you ever heard of IBM Support Assistant? Well, prepare to be introduced to an ambitious little project that nobody seems to know about. I spend a lot of time on the Internet. Probably too much time. But I do it with a purpose: to bring the latest information to you, dear reader. I strive to bring you the latest advancements in technology that apply to our beloved platform, and the only way to do that is to diligently scour the 'net. I also try to bring you anything new from the folks at IBM, the folks on whom our platform depends. And while I usually hear about new things in the usual manner—discussions at conferences, telephone calls, executive briefings, beta programs, that sort of thing—this latest bit of technology I literally stumbled upon by pure chance during my traipsing (professional traipsing, mind you) of the Internet. |

Find out what you can do with this terrific functionality. The fall conference season is nearing its end. In fact, I'm writing this while on the way home from the System i Technical Conference in Orlando. To be honest, I am actually sitting in Miami as my return flight was delayed by a mechanical problem that resulted in an unwanted overnight stay...but that's another story. |

Microsoft's latest operating system, Vista, has been available for almost a year. During that period, a number of interesting developments have come to pass. When Vista was released, I predicted that the new operating system would be widely adopted in the same manner that other new versions of Windows have been implemented in the past. That was where I was wrong. Sure, I said, there are some problems and inconveniences associated with the adoption of any new OS, and Vista would surely have its share, but inevitably the rollout would roll on.
