New version challenges conventional approaches to ALM, realigns ARCAD’s product range by function group, and extends target market, company says.

ARCAD Software, which develops solutions that manage change and modernize business applications in the IBM i world, has announced the availability V8.10. ARCAD’s integrated Application Lifecycle Management solution covers every activity around the software change process, from user request management, to multi-platform deployment, through configuration/release management and test automation. All of the technical innovations in this new version support and advance the company’s commitment to an open, multi-platform approach and favor the integration of Rational tools.

The V8.10 release signals a new era in the overall ARCAD offering, with a profound reorganization of the company's product structure and catalog. V8.10 challenges conventional approaches to ALM, realigning ARCAD’s broad product range by function group and extending its target markets, the company said.

“With this new product offering, it’s now even more striking that we provide the widest range of functionality on the IBM i ALM market,” says Philippe Magne, CEO and chairman. “The further subdivision of products has another advantage: it renders the ARCAD technology more affordable for small organizations.”

This reorganization has been driven by the will to spotlight certain parts of the offering that will spearhead the company's growth in the near future. This applies to three solutions in particular:

• ARCAD-Transformer, for secured mass transformation of native source code, now able to convert entire applications into UNICODE

• ARCAD-Datachanger, a highly innovative “Data Configuration Management” system

• ARCAD-Deliver, for multi-platform deployment, now with an official bridge to Rational Team Concert

ARCAD-Deliver Extension for Rational Team Concert allows Rational Team Concert users to benefit from the full deployment capabilities of ARCAD-Deliver, the ARCAD Software Release Management System. ARCAD-Deliver is able to deploy to multiple IBM i, Windows, UNIX or Linux servers using one single process managed from a single central console. The “ARCAD-Deliver Extension for Rational Team Concert” is called as a post-build process to automate the management, release and rollback of all built artifacts. Highly scalable, ARCAD-Deliver Extension for RTC covers simple needs like a transfer to one single production box, up to more complex configurations containing multiple production environments, and including the particular needs of ISVs.

“Right from the start we have always prioritized openness in our development strategy. The base ARCAD architecture allows us to quickly adapt and interact with new standards. This strategy is now paying off” says Magne.
