After reviewing different software solutions, Preferred Image Technologies chose to market Quick-EDD/HA and to partner with iSam Blue.

Longtime IBM midrange systems professional Jim Chenoweth has formed Preferred Image Technologies, LLC to market and support the

Quick-EDD/HA high availability and disaster recovery software for IBM i Power Systems (IBM AS/400).

Preferred Image Technologies is the newest U.S. business partner for iSam Blue, LLC, the North American distributor of the Quick-EDD suite of products. Beginning in the southwestern United States, Preferred Image Technologies will eventually sell and support Quick-EDD solutions across the entire U.S.

Why Quick-EDD/HA?

Chenoweth had been looking for a solid software solution to sell and support when he was contacted by iSam Blue. After taking a close look at Quick-EDD/HA and meeting with iSam Blue president, Robert Seal, he decided this was the product and company with whom he wanted to work.
"I was impressed with the design of Quick-EDD and resulting performance. Quick-EDD is not based on remote journaling, so it has low bandwidth requirements. It is written in machine language, so it’s very efficient. It’s easy to set up; there’s a much better chance that the remote system is already synced. Overall, it’s a solid product with solid support from the developer’s programmers and from iSam Blue."

Chenoweth is happy that he can rely on iSam Blue and Seal for technical as well as business answers: "Robert is a longtime HA expert, so I know that when I ask him a question, I’ll get solid technical answers. He can go deep into the technology of the IBM Power i and the software; that’s comforting."

The Quick-EDD/HA processor-group pricing model will also help, Chenoweth says. “Other HA software is priced on the CPW, not the processor group. Companies upgrading to higher processing power (CPW) within an IBM processor group find that their license fees for the HA/DR software increase sharply. I think that users of competitors’ HA solutions will look at Quick-EDD when faced with higher costs," he says.

Preferred Image Technologies, LLC

Jim Chenoweth founded Preferred Image Technologies to sell and support the Quick-EDD/HA solution for the IBM i Power Systems (formerly known as AS/400). The company is based in Peoria, AZ. Chenoweth has been in program development and systems engineering with IBM midrange systems since 1977, including AS/400 since 1988, specializing in RPG/400 and RPG IV. He formed CLC Systems, Inc. after serving as director of Application Development and Systems Engineer for two IBM business partner firms. Chenoweth has extensive experience in most major applications including accounting, financial, distribution, manufacturing, utilities, home building, transportation, and medical. His expertise on the IBM i Power Systems (AS/400) spans all areas, including traditional application development, Web development, communications, hardware analysis and setup, as well as PC networking and development, radio frequency and hand-held development, and project management. His team continues to provide other custom development services. Chenoweth can be reached via email at This email address is being protected from spambots. iSam Blue, LLC distributes Quick-EDD high availability software for IBM i on IBM Power Systems (AS/400 and iSeries) directly and through a network of North American business partners. In addition, iSam Blue and its business partners provide a range of consulting services for high availability, disaster recovery and business continuity (HA/DR, BC), from migrations to planning, implementing and ongoing monitoring. Worldwide, more than 1,000 companies rely on Quick-EDD for high availability and business continuity. They value its ease of use, autonomics, reliability, low resource requirements, ultra-fast record level audit, rapid synch, and favorable pricing.
