SteelEye Technology Inc., a provider of data protection and application availability products for Linux and Windows, has announced the expansion of its product set with its high availability clustering, continuous data protection and disaster recovery solutions for IBMÆs System i.

SteelEyeÆs product portfolio is now available to run within Linux-based partitions across the System i network and on IBM System x and Bladecenter servers running the Windows operating system integrated with System i via iSCSI technology. In both environments, SteelEye's products support configurations with i5/OS providing virtual storage to the Linux and Windows environments.

"IBM is pleased to have SteelEye bring its product portfolio and data protection, disaster recovery expertise to the System i platform," said Jim Herring, director of IBM System i products. ôEnterprise deployments of Linux and Windows on System i demand a robust systems environment as well as data and application protection and disaster recovery of business-critical applications.

SteelEye and Vision Solutions, the worldÆs largest HA solutions provider for the System i platform, also announced a new strategic partnership which delivers SMB and enterprise solutions for the majority of IBM System i operating environments.

"By leveraging the world class availability offerings of both Vision Solutions and SteelEye, customers can build multiplatform resiliency into their business while minimizing cost and complexity," says Vision Solutions Chief Technology Officer Alan Arnold. "The companies will also collaborate on new initiatives focused on growing the System i user community."
