Vormittag Associates, Inc. (VAI), an IBM Premier Business Partner and a leader in enterprise solutions for the distribution, manufacturing, retail, and service industries, has announced an agreement with VeriFone Holdings, Inc., a global leader in secure electronic payment technologies. Under the terms of the agreement, VAI has integrated VeriFone's MX870 payment platform and RiTA Server payment transaction middleware into its S2K Enterprise for Retail Point-of-Sale (POS) software.

This partnership is part of a larger strategic effort by VAI to increase the firm's global reach to customers in the retail market. VeriFone, headquartered in San Jose, California, is an ideal partner for this growth outreach because it serves more than 100 countries around the world through an efficient network of distributed locations.

VAI's deployment of VeriFone's MX870 and RiTA Server into its S2K for Retail application benefits retailers with fast, secure credit card transactions and direct updates to the enterprise resource planning (ERP) package in real time. Customers benefit from the easy-to-use graphical user interface of the MX870's touch-screen and the fast, secure transactions processed by the RiTA Server.

VeriFone's MX870 combines full-motion video, a vibrant 65,536-color display and high-quality digital sound to deliver unprecedented digital signage opportunities for branding, promotion, and advertising. VeriFone's RiTA Server is a highly scalable transaction middleware that supports high-volume, multi-threaded transaction processing. Eliminating the need for a gateway solution, the RiTA Server can accept all major credit cards, support a range of processors and connection methods, and process credit, debit, purchasing card (I, II and III), gift/loyalty and check transactions.

"As a leader in the enterprise management industry, VAI understands the retail market's requirements," said Jeff Wakefield, VeriFone's vice president of Marketing, Integrated Systems. "We are pleased to partner with VAI to fill these needs and give VAI's clients the added value only the MX870 and RiTA Server can bring to its enterprise management solution."

Kevin Beasley, VAI's CIO, added, "In growing our market base, VAI looks to technology leaders to identify innovative solutions that can advance our product line. VeriFone's MX870 not only adds value to our S2K for Retail package, but also yields client benefits. VeriFone's RiTA Server payment middleware, used in conjunction with MX870, allows Internet e-tailers the ability to handle Web or in-store transactions quickly and easily. These solutions expand their market reach in previously unattainable ways."

S2K for Retail offers a complete retail industry solution, including POS, accounting, inventory management, customer relationship management, purchasing, warehouse management, and e-commerce. By centralizing information across the entire organization, S2K for Retail can eliminate costly delays and allow retailers to make informed decisions, according to the company, key capabilities needed to compete in the global marketplace.
