Yes, hackers pasting embarrassing signs on my clothing would be bad. But I would be more fearful of a hacker DELETING my clothes!!!

Speaking of the clothes becoming, er, visually absent, what happens if the batteries die? Let's hope they go dark, rather than some less interesting effect. Hey, why stick to a single pattern anyhow? You could have them cycle through lots of crazy styles and colours, becoming like some fluorescent Las Vegas neon sign! No, slow changes based on lighting and social circumstances would probably be better. Here's another idea. How do you get your shirt and pants to coordinate under these circumstances? Just because they touch doesn't mean they talk to each other! Maybe you don't care if they clash, but I have to believe most people will care. Fashion doesn't exist just because there are fashion designers. So now you need a network ('cause the shoes and socks, not to mention your coat and hat have to get in on the act). Also, the garments need to be smart enough to, not only have a sense of style, but know their owner's style. They need sensors too. Whew, this is getting complicated.

Would there be DRM implications here? If you buy this embedded clothing, would you have to agree to a convoluted license? Would it say that you could only use the clothing in a certain way? Would you have to buy into a yearly maintenance agreement to continue wearing it? Would you be able download Levi version 2.1.3 that fixes bugs? Tom.

Today's tirade reminds me of a high school dance. As we entered the ballroom, my girlfriend shrieked, "OH NO!!! Someone else is wearing the same dress as me! This is TERRIBLE!" Being the marvelously sensitive boyfriend that I was, I responded with ""OH NO!!! One hundred other guys are wearing the same tuxedo as me! This is TERRIBLE!" I thought it was hilarious (and guffawed accordingly), but for some unknown reason my girlfriend wasn't amused. I guess that's why I'm now a programmer.

Well if the software was written by Microsoft, every now and then you will see your clothes turn blue (with shame?) and then you will have to reboot (strip). ... then occasionally you will see viruses attacking your clothes and you will see advertisements for herbal viagra, your private part enlargement, sweestakes, and ofcourse a letter from Nigeria telling you that your cousin has died leaving a fortune in his bank!
