    Try the setup below instead. For "printername" substitute the name of your printer. Note: We create a message queue for each printer, named the same as the printer, and the parameters below reflect that. You may need to change it for your application if you don't want to do that. If there is a reason you really need to use a *VRT instead of a *LAN let me know and I can post that setup as well. -dan

    Woops, I just noticed you said a "5p". The "P" in HP's printer models usually stand for "Personal". The standard *HP5 setup probably won't work for that. In our company we refuse to set up those printers, so I can't help you there. But try the setup I posted above. Who knows, it might work. -dan

      The people who originally set up our system used *vrt for all Pc's printers. The printers are attached to PC's and not directly wired to system. I am guessing that is why the *vrt. All other printers work fine this way. I'd rather stick with *vrt. But can I use *lan with this type of setup? Thanks

        I have the following config for a hp laserjet 5p. My problem is the reports process through the Iseries but when it gets to the printer, the amber light for what I believe is the formfeed lights up. The report never prints. Am I missing something in the setup. (it works ok with PC applications. Thanks in advance, Kath.           I figured it out. I needed to use the PDT setup using HPLJ4. Printer works fine now.
