I just read an article ( a company article ) concerning there new product that will secure the FTP server on an AS/400. For X amount of dollars you can be secure.......yaddayadda...... Here's what I've done to secure our ftp server, please advise if I've missed something ( to me this seems very basic and it works ). What I've done is create a user profile let's say ftp_usr on the 400 and gave that user password *NONE and no initial menu *SIGNOFF, no start up program, etc. So the profile cannot be used to actually signon the 400. Then I went into Ops Nav to Application Administration -> Host Applications and allowed only the ftp_usr access to certain parts of ftp. I then added a supplemental group ftp_usr ( created earlier ) to the user profiles that needed access to ftp. Is this NOT a secure way????
