"How can I get a one recrd out put with the product ID and the first (or last) transaction date. Like an L1 break?" You can sort and break on product ID, select max and min functions for the date and choose summary ouput to file. This will show you the lowest and highest transaction date for each product id. Afraid I have no thoughts on the second question. HTH, Joe

Query/400 esoteric functions
Using AS/400 Query I sort a file on 'product ID' and then 'transaction date'. How can I get a one recrd out put with the product ID and the first (or last) transaction date. Like an L1 break? Is there a way, in Query, to output records with a field that is incremented by 1 (or 10 or such) for each new field. So the output has 1,2,3 etc.
