    AS400 IT Project Lead Gathers and analyzes information for developing and modifying business application software. Translates requirements defined by business users into logical, economical and practical systems designs. Designs and specifies systems and methods for installing them and supervises or guides their implementation. Evaluates operational systems and recommends improvements. Works closely with personnel in problem areas to gather information and define systems objectives. Documents fact-finding and study results. Reviews work completed and in progress for completeness, efficiency, accuracy and adherence to standards. REPORTS TO: Director of Application Development ENVIRONMENT: Technical - IBM AS400 RESPONSIBILITIES: 1) Provide day-to-day systems analysis support of assigned systems in both problem solving and project environments. Specific tasks include: - Define requirements for analytical studies. - Document current systems operations. - Perform interviews and other data gathering. - Apply current technology to solution of problems. - Prepare specifications for system improvements. - Define security and control procedures. - Develop systems testing and conversion plans. - Guide programmers. - Supervise other project personnel as required. - Fulfill administrative reporting requirements. 2) Analyze business requirements in close coordination with functional user personnel; develop recommendations for system solutions to support business requirements and communicate them to IT management and user personnel. 3) Develop task plans and schedules for assigned projects. 4) Develop overall system design and (as appropriate) prototypes of major system components. 5) Adhere to the company's defined methods, standards and policies for development and operation of systems. 6) Execute project management role in such a way so as to ensure that all assigned projects are delivered on time and at the appropriate levels of quality and usability. QUALIFICATIONS: Education - An Associate's Degree in computer science is Preferred; required course work or equivalent background includes systems analysis; structured analysis and programming; programming languages and application generators; file/data base theory; and data communications and local area networks. Also desired is familiarity with emerging technologies. Experience - Required experience includes at least seven plus years of system development experience and background in structured design methodologies and project management. Prior supervisory experience is a plus. Skills - Skills required for this position include the following: strong written and oral communications, software quality assurance, use of automated systems design tools, project management.
