We have had some problems with the automatic Check Service Pack Level and NetServer access getting disabled. When the Check Service Pack Level indicator is triggered, the desktop uses cached authentication credentials from the desktop logon to attempt authentication to NetServer. If a user has differing passwords for their Microsoft and AS/400 accounts, and they do not have a drive mapped to NetServer, their NetServer authenticaiton will fail and the user profile will be disabled for NetServer. The fix is to require that profile names and passwords be the same for both the desktop and AS/400, or have a persistent drive mapping at the desktop level for NetServer.

Judy, Isn't this defined in the connection? It should use whatever method you have defined in Operation Navigator's properties. How is your connection defined, my guess would be that you do have it as "Use Windows User Name and Password, no prompting". Change it to "Use default user id, prompt as needed" and see what happens. This section of the article suggests hitting the "Client Access Properties" icon to see what service level you are at. At first I looked for a toolbar button, but concluded you meant to go thru the control panel and rt click on "iSeries Access for Windows" icon. Right?

That will do it. There's also a shortcut in the iSeries/Client Access program folder. Regards, Brian
