Summary/Purpose of Position: Directs the management and maintenance of computers to ensure integrity, security and availability. Directs projects, tasks resources and initiatives to completion. Coordinates and directs research efforts to discover modifications and enhancements to existing policies and procedures to improve systems role to the company. Conducts evaluations of overall system performance to develop and implement recommendations to address and resolve issues. Duties and Responsibilities: 60% % of Time: Monitor and support company Technology. System Security. Analyze hardware/software problems and develop resolutions. Act as a resource to the Applications team to resolve technical issues. Evaluate overall system performance to develop and implement recommendations to address and resolve issues. Assists in managing systems integrity and availability. Interfaces with division personnel, applications/systems analysts, manufacture’s representatives and departmental personnel to implement new projects and provide assistance in resolution of technical issues. Systems Administration and Technical Support. Monitor, recognize and resolve problems with the related equipment. Backup Procedures. Perform Security and System administration functions. Performs 2nd and 3rd Level Technical Support to User Support related issues. 30% of Time: Capacity planning and performance tuning. Software package review, installation, configuration and maintenance. Research, planning and coordination of the implementation of new technology. 10% of Time: Disaster Recovery planning and documentation. Ensures that all documentation is up-to-date and implements new documentation. Perform project management tasks in relation to Information Systems Projects. Assists in ensuring that the users are adhering to operating and security procedures and requirements. Performs other assignments to comply with the Business strategies and initiatives. Work overtime and provide on call support. Required Qualifications: Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or equivalent At least 8 years of hands-on experience in Systems Administration/Operations. Expert knowledge of IBM iSeries multi-system administration (V5R3 or above), iSeries security administration, and BRMS/iSeries backup and recovery. Hands-on experience planning and maintaining IBM Series i Server hardware, LPARs, HMC. Monitor, configure, and tune iSeries servers, software and utilities; hands-on OS installation, configuration, upgrade experience required. iSeries Clusters / Switchable IASPs. Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking; SNA a plus. Skilled at monitoring performance of software and hardware and recommending and implementing changes to maintain acceptable performance. Experience anticipating future performance requirements to support growth and scalability. Able to develop new technical processes and make recommendations for the improvement of existing processes. CL scripting for administrative purposes. Strong communications skills. Skills/Experience desired: MIMIX, Aldon, RVI, or Showcase. Experience with IBM AIX, Websphere ND, or IBM DB2.
