This is essentially and Infrastructure Manager position reporting to the Director of Information Systems. Long Beach, California area. Company is a $225 – $250million privately held wholesale distribution company located in the South Bay area. Bring “best practices” skills to this growing organization to help the Director of IT implement a first class effective IT infrastructure group. First challenge will be to establish a formal Help Desk group to support users in a Windows and IBM iSeries eServer environment. Develop and report on help desk support analysis and metrics, and possibly select and implement Help Desk software. You would manage a Network Manager, Sr. Network Administrator, 1 AS400 Administrator and 1 Help Desk individual (possibly add staff in the Help Desk area). Must have excellent planning, project management and decision-making skills. Must also have excellent knowledge of network technologies including WAN/LAN/WLAN, VoIP, PBX, Windows 2003 Server and Active Directory, Lotus Notes Domino (Optimize), TCP/IP, web/email services, firewall, anti-virus/anti-spam. Be responsible for software/hardware evaluation and recommendation to support the LAN/WAN environment, firewalls, e-mail and fax servers and phone systems including recommending VOIP systems. Your ability to improve their utilization of Lotus Notes would be a big plus (example: integrate all their different address books). Improve the quality of service for all supported servers. Implement standards and procedures. Be skilled at motivating and mentoring infrastructure staff. Should also have experience with vendor management, contract negotiation, budgeting and cost/benefit analysis. Must pass drug test and background check and have a current drivers license. Salary to $100,000 + bonus potential. Prefer a local candidate, but will consider someone with a genuine interest in relocating.
