  • Faster ODBC Performance on V5R2

Is this feature also available when using ODBC on Linux for access to iSeries?

    Faster ODBC Performance on V5R2

After installing the latest service pack, I scanned my registry, and my ODBC connections already had the CatalogOptions set to 3.

CatalogOptions defaults to 3, this enhancement only applies to DSNs created in V5R2 prior to SP SI10914 being installed.

I work on the ODBC driver and can comment on a few things: - Yes, this option is available in the ODBC driver for Linux - The default for CatalogOptions has changed, but is 3 now. Unless the DSN has CatalogOptions set to 7, no change is needed. - The CatalogOptions only works with catalog APIs (SQLTables, SQLColumns, ...). It won't help performance with running SQL statements or fetching data, which is generally the more performance-critical path.
