These two posts show an alternative method of accessing data using SQL wrappers around Java calls to SQL Server. http://www.mcpressonline.com/mc?1@17...onid=.5bfbaeaf http://www.mcpressonline.com/mc?1@17...onID=.5bfbae47

Can I access MS SQL db from RPG on iSeries / AS400 ??
I have a need to access an MS SQL db from an RPG program running on our AS400. Support (800-IBM-SERV) said that I could use a "Type 4" JDBC driver or DB2 or DRDA. They also said that DB2 was pretty pricey. (We have a P10 box.) Support also said that DRDA, while not officially supported by MS SQL, could be made to work. This is a less appealing option for me from the start. Response time is a major factor as this will be initially used in an interactive application. Anybody ever done this ? Martin

You can use a product called SQL iPlug from Aura-Equipement. We use it for manufacturing tasks in one of our plants (order processing, tracking), all in interactive mode, and it is quite effective. You can check it all at http://www.easycom-aura.com/us/SQL_iPlug.asp
