I WAS SO GLAD TO SEE THIS ARTICLE, BUT I STILL NEED FURTHER HELP-- WHEN I TYPE LCD COWNLOAD TO CHANGE MY LOCAL DIR AND RUN MY CL TO FTP IT GIVES ME AN ERROR SAYING "CHARACTER ( IS NOT ALLOWED IN OBJECT NAME" WHAT DO I NEED TO SAY IN ORDER TO POINT TO THE FILE IN MY PC THAT I WANT TO TRANSFER TO? THANK YOU

I suspect that you are entering the lcd command on the AS/400 (or iSeries if you prefer!). The lcd is a client-side command; you should be able to enter the cd (Change Directory) command to change the default directory on the Server (which, I assume, is your PC). Hope this helps!
