  • Can Find String Be run in background?

Try Sbmjob F4, fill in your search criteria, and the search job goes to batch.

I know F4 stuff is all PDM, not WDSC. I select "Find String" on RSE and it comes up with options for options for "Scope", "Case Sensitive", "Columns", "OK", or "Cancel". When you select criteria to search for it WDSC hogs the screen with a progress bar that blocks you from doing anything more until it is done. I don't find anything to do with "F4" there.

Can Find String Be run in background?

IBM has done a decent job of getting WSDC to do much of what PDM does. Is it possible for a Find String operation to be done in the background, so I don't have to wait for it with my system tied up? Is there a setup option that would allow me to continue working while it finds things? Dwight HoganCamp

The speed of finding strings is not so bad if you "Find String" on a whole Source File, so it searches the file at once instead of selecting the names of members in a filter list and having it select each member separately Dwight
