MQ is a software package that can run in intel, unix, OS400, MVS ... etc. It passes messages from "queue to queue" over "channels". This can be between disparate platforms, systems or within the same system. SC34-5558-00 has a good intrduction to MQ Series and discusses MQ for the AS/400. You should be able to download the PDF version from IBM's web site.

AS400 and IBM MQ Series
I have a possible job opportunity with a company that is trying to integrate an AS400 platform with IBM MQ Series. AS400 I am familiar with, but don't know a lot about the MQ Series. From what I have researched MQ series sounds like software on a PC platform that enables web services? Any info would be appreciated.
