  • What does the MAXHOP parameter of CHGNETA command do

Can someone please explain what the MAXHOP parameter of CHGNETA command does? Would this mean disabling IP Forwarding. The datagram option of CHGTCP command is something different from IP forwarding. I think datagram is where each packet sent across the network has its own destination information. Please let me know how I can disable IP forwarding on the AS/400. Thanks.

Unless I remember incorrectly, the MAXHOP parm is for SNADS. This controls the number a times a distribution from this system (using SNADS) is allowed to "hop" before it reaches its final destination. Typically you see this in companies with a large SNA implementation or multiple AS/400's and or mainframes. This should not affect your IP functionality. I hope this helps.
