One caution: You cannot sanitize any disks attached to the same IOP as the load source unit. Best to make sure of your disk configuration, before spending any money on this PRPQ. Might be an opportunity for someone to act as a 'disk wiping service,' since a lot of smaller iSeries (etc.) won't be able to use this product.

Disk sanitizing for iSeries
I wish we'd had this a year ago when we decommissioned an iSeries. IBM has issued a product and PTFs to allow sanitizing disks (overwriting multiple times to make data recovery nearly impossible). PRPQ 5799SD1: http://www-912.ibm.com/s_dir/slkbase...7?OpenDocument

Disk sanitizing for iSeries
I've been looking into this prpq but the questions I have are more about how you would verify the operation (warranty and audit report aside) to provide a customer proof. I realise timings are subjective but what would the outside time for sanitizing x,y & z disks be? Any help appreciated. Reeve
