I am stumped on something. My HMC is set to manage the Firmware. When I read IBMs documents about installing a cumulative or hiper group of PTFs they advise to always make sure the HMC is updated first. What doesn't make sense is that my HMC controls the firmware updates so how does a cumulative or hiper group touch the firmware? From what I understand the HMC should be updated always first before updating firmware. If I am installing a new cumulative and hiper group it should not touch the firmware since my HMC is managing the firmware updates. Can anyone shed some light as to why I should be worried about a cumulative or hiper group touching the firmware in my case? Thanks, Scott
