Great article about distributions. I did not realize that the iSeries was keeping them. We have an application that uses Snddst and over 100 emails are sent everyday. But when I used the Dspdstlog, only 12 showed up. (And I made sure to *Begin on the date) So, where have all the distributions gone?

The iSeries provides a way of handling the cleanup of this queue automatically. Type GO CLEANUP on a command line to see the options. The eMail (and other communication) activity is actually kept in a system journal (QSNADS). The DSPDSTLOG is a nice command IBM provided to look at that journal and make sense of it easier than looking at the journal itself. The downside to using the automatic cleanup is that each cleanup option cleans up multiple things. So, it may not work for what you depending on what your needs are. Say you want your QSNADS journal cleaned up every 30 days but want your "Job Accounting" journal (QACGJRN) cleaned up every 90 days. This isn't an option for you then because both of these journals are handled by the same cleanup option (the way I read the documentation). I could not find a description of this stuff using a search on the IBM site. However, in the supplemental manuals section (of V5R1M0) under Day-to-Day operations, I found a System Operation manual for V3R6. It discusses the automatic cleanup options pretty well. Garrett

Re-genning the QSNADS receiver does indeed help. I do not know if it will prevent you from bumping up against the 9,999 limitation. Using both techniques will clear all doubt. Dave
