From ZDNet: Computer glitch delays test of space station arm
"The problematic server feeds a main computer and two laptops aboard the station, which in turn are used to send commands to the robot arm." The server crashed and "disrupted all communication from the command computers on the station". This is not your father's NASA. We had dual sides with an an arbitrator on our long distance switching computer at ITT in 1977, and trust me, the Ericsson CPUs circa '77 don't touch today's CPUs. If a bad data feed was the cause, as the article says is being checked out, that's why you have a side B to switch back to after trying side A and crashing. This is fundamental communications processing. Is that too complicated for NASA? Ralph
