  • IP type outq for a 4247 printer

I am trying to set up an outq for a 4247 printer connected through a Jet Direct to our network. I have connection type = *IP, destination type *OTHER, host print transform *NO and an IP address. In the CL I have an OVRPRTF with DEVTYPE(*IPDS). Something prints on the form, but it is unreadable (graphic characters). Any suggestions?

I don't believe you can force a jetdirect to print IPDS by using an OVRPRTF command. The network interface needs to be able to handle the IPDS data stream. IDATA, Lexmark, MPI all make hardware that will do this, I don't think HP does. Change your *IPDS to *SCS and see if that works.

4247 is a matrix printer and I don't know any print servers that translates IPDS to matrix printers. Axis, MPI and IO got print servers for IBM environment that translates SCS to matrix printers and it is no problem to use IP.
