Mainframe to AS/400 Printing

I suppose the first question is can the mainframe ping the AS400 and support LPR ?

Mainframe to AS/400 Printing

I need to do a Mainframe print directly via IP to an AS/400 LAN Printer. The Mainframe will output JES2. The AS/400 and the mainframe are on the same WAN, but two different subnets. There is no direct line between the mainframe and the as/400.

Is the printer on the LAN, or attached to the 400? If its on the LAN with an IP address, why should the 400 even be involved. Trevor
