  • Email attachments getting corrupted

Hi, Has anybody run into the problem of non-txt (i.e. .PDF, .ZIP) attachments getting corrupted? I've tried using both the program in the Sept 98 issue of News/400 and another located at http://home.yebo.co.za/~10302602/download1.html. Both send email with text attachments fine, but when I send any other type of attachment I get a corrupted file error. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Scott

I think that binary attachments have to be encoded (into text) before attaching to the e-mail. I've not seen any as/400 code to do this although it's standard c stuff.

Look at WWW.NETSHARE400.com ; they send PDF thru e-mail. Maybe they can help.

You need some sort of Mime encoding such as Base64. It's not a quick and dirty process to write from scratch, however you could do it if you had the time and the knowledge of Base64 encoding. If you need to send binary file attachments from the AS/400 and are willing to look at a commercial product, take a look at our SMTP/400 email API. If you have any questions or would like to further discuss your needs, feel free to contact me directly or visit our web site for more info. Regards, Richard Schoen RJS Software Systems Inc.
