  • adding IP address for router?

We have two LANs connected by a router. Our LAN that is attached on the hub with our AS400 has no problem connecting to the AS400 using TCPIP. We now want to connect the other LAN to the AS400. Where do we enter the IP address of the router onto the AS400?? (This router is acting as a gateway?) We are running 3.2 of the OS. Thanks. Stacy

      adding IP address for router?

thanks.. I did that but it would not accept my subnet mask. Example - IP address of AS400 - 10.2.25.1 Subnet - 255.255.0.0 IP address of router - 10.2.2.1 subnet - 255.255.0.0 would not accept the subnet of router. Also, do I need a next hop??

IP address of AS400 - 10.2.25.1 Subnet - 255.255.0.0 IP address of router - 10.2.2.1 subnet - 255.255.0.0 The route table tells the AS/400 where to send addresses that fall into certain ranges. Where you are sending them is the next hop (router) so the address of the router 10.2.2.1 would go into next hop. The route destination and the subnet mask tells the AS/400 what range of addresses should be sent to the next hop. If the addresses on the other side of the router all start with 10.1 then the route destination would be 10.1.0.0 and subnet would be 255.255.0.0.
