  • SMTP server running wild

Until we started using DOMINO for the router, we found that this was normal behaviour. Our workaround was to bump up the SMTP jobs priority to about 60 or 70. When we did that batch jobs worked normally. Later it was discovered that although these jobs ARE memory hogs, our usage was abnormal. It took a few service calls to straighten it all out. If you are on IBM maintenance, you may want to make a few calls. Dave

    SMTP server running wild

I'm on a V4R5 AS/400 that is being used for email. There are 2 smtp jobs that are using 65% of the CPU. The 2 jobs are: QTSMTPSRVP,QTSMTPCLTP. I've tried looking for PTF's or APARS without sucess. Any ideas....? Thanks.

There is a PTF that fixes this problem in V4R5. Product - 5769TC1 PTF - SF65292. You can load and apply the PTF without an IPL. You have to stop and start your MSF & SMTP servers.
