Thanks for the suggestion. But, in this particular situation I am locked into either using the products that we have or things that I can develop myself using the tools that we already have. Mike, Have you considered creating another printer file which you control inside the program? Whenever you want to create a new spool file you close the printer file, then open it again. Another option would be to use CpySplF to a disk file and re-process the spool file splitting it at the appropriate places. Hello Mike, Do you have the source for the program ? If so you can alter the program to open/close the spool file after each level break. Then you will have multiple individual spool files. If you decide to look at commercial alternatives, our AS/400 Report Splitter would work perfectly for this task. Regards, Richard Schoen RJS Software Systems Inc. Thanks for the thought, but I had to move on and have already finished this project up. The report splitter would be handy, perhaps it is something that we will look into at a later time. Although, it would be nice if we would latch onto an email tool that provided the functionality to send by page range rather than just a complete spoolfile. Breaking Apart A Spool File

I have a report that needs to support the following two options: ... First, be able to print in entirety with a level break ... Second, at each level break be able to email all of the details associated with that break only. We have email software that we use that usually fits our needs. We can email entire spool files. What I would like to do here is to email certain pages from the spool file. Our email software is not capable of only emailing certain pages from the spool file. So it looks like my other option will be to produce a separate report for each level break in the report so that it can be emailed. One thing that crossed my mind was to have the level break on the report always start with a new page, and then possibly duplicate certain page ranges from the spool file into another spool file. Does anyone have any ideas or slick ways to do this? All of the utilities that we currently have in house to duplicate a spool file, duplicates the entire spool file. Is there a way to just copy a certain page range from the spool file into another spool file?

I know you've moved on. Just check into SpoolTool next time as well. I think Brad has logic to print specific pages in there and it's free or a small registration fee if you like it. Check out his stuff at www.bvstools.com Mike
