You may use the "I" specs to change the name of the field. The "I"(for input) specs come before the the calc specs. Rarely used in RPG IV, they can still be a powerful programming tool. You need two lines of "I: specs. One to state the name of the record format of the file, and the second to rename the field in question. Dave

I have a program which has 2 pf's one is item#1 and other is Item#2. Item#2 has a item number field named Item#1.when i compile the program it gives error 4287 and does not compile. my question what can i do to avoid compilation error. thanks, saravanan
