  • Does the OS/400 IFS have the equivalent of the UNIX 'htaccess' ?

In the UNIX world there is a 'htaccess' command that will force a web browser to prompt for a user ID, and password, when a browser requests access to a directory that has had the 'htaccess' command applied to it. e.g. The URL www.companyname.com/adirectory/index.html would ask for a username and password (using a dialog box from the browser) if the directory 'adirectory' had 'htaccess' applied to it.

400/UNIX is pretty bare-bones. I would doubt it has htaccess, but I have never really looked. bobh

Sorry for the late post, but the OS/400 http server does support user authentication. This is typically achieved by using validation lists (OS/400 object type *VLDL), which specifies your Internet users and their passwords (similar to the Unix/Linux htaccess file). You can also use AS/400 user profiles and their passwords, which exist independently of validation lists. Harry B.
