  • Client Access & Password Encryption

Does anyone know were I can find some IBM documentation for how User ID’s and Passwords are sent across a network from a PC with a CA session to the AS/400. Someone asked me if the CA session sends an encrypted ID and password. I couldn’t find the answer in the CA documentation. I would assume it is encrypted. But you know what "ass u me" does.

Tim - Unless you have made some "encryption arrangements", there is no encryption occurring. This means that user IDs and passwords are transmitted across your network "in the clear" and anyone with a sniffer and the will to do so can gather them. You don't say what version of CA you're using, but later versions have support for SSL. If it's important to you or your company, you should taken advantage of that support. HTH, Steve
