We recently encountered a problem with our internal NT server on the AS400. The server was hung so I attempted to reset it by varying it off and back on. It took a long time to vary off and then the vary on failed. I attempted to vary it on several times but it failed. I ended up IPLing the AS400 which corrected the problem. Was there another way to reset the NT server without IPLing the AS400?

It's possible to IPL only the adapter card using the STRSST command. STRSST, option 1 "Start a service tool", option 7 "Hardware service manager", option 2 "Logical hardware resources (buses, IOPs, controllers,...), option 1 "System bus resources", find the resource associated with IOP (option "9=Resources associated with IOP", select the "Communications IOA 850-011" or other IOA for NT integration, and finaly take option "6" 6=I/O Debug). Be carefull to be as QECOFR user and that nobody work on this NT server of course. Good luke and again be carefull ! it's not a toy !
