FTP Guard4i is a tool for securing the FTP Services on the IBM i and its predecessors (AS/400, iSeries, System i, i5 etc). The product was developed out of a need to protect the critical data stored on our internal IBM i systems such as customer information and source code. Without FTP Guard4i we had limited capabilities to protect the data because the FTP services are an important part of the Shield process when creating and publishing our products. The source code and customer data files can be opened by the relevant employees of the company to allow them to carry out their duties, but because we had FTP running on the IBM i we had no way to determine what the users were doing with that data, or where it was being transferred to.
With FTP Guard you can now trace all FTP file movement to and from the IBM i, you have the ability to restrict what users can and cannot download and upload to system, where they can carry out those operations, and at what times. Your source and customer data is now securely maintained and tracked.
Cost
FTP Guard4i is priced very competitively and offers capabilities not found in competing products. It has been developed with ease-of-use at its core, this reduces the cost of ownership and provides an easily manageable environment for the small IBM i shop. Installation and fix management is carried out using the same commands used to manage the OS. Licensing is IBM CPU tier based, we do not charge extra for LPAR’s or additional CPU activations where they stay within the same CPU Tier.
