Califon Systems evolved from a software and hardware development and consulting firm in 1989.Califon Systems got its start in the midrange market place focusing on ¼ inch Tape back-up, along with 9 Track reel to reel for the System 36.As time evolved Califon Systems concentrated on Tape and Storage solutions such as 8MM, 3480 1/2 inch compatible,3490 ½ inch, AND DLT ½ inch for the AS-400, along with developing its own Tape management Software. The initial scope of the operation concentrated on generating automated software solutions and integrating differential SCSI interfaces for manufactures of tape, optical and disk systems. This extensive background in systems and automation has enabled Califon Systems to focus on Security and Auditing issues on the AS-400 since 1995 when it developed its own Object level security software.
