The Maxava iFoundation is pleased to announce a new funding pool for 2014-15 to assist not for profit organizations working to grow and strengthen the IBM i community.

Now in its fourth year, the Maxava iFoundation (established by Maxava) offers grants to interest groups for ‘the general promotion and free exchange of knowledge, ideas, and skills related to IBM’.  Applications for grants are welcomed from qualifying organizations helping to enhance the broader IBM i community in any part of the world.

Maxava has given $150,000 over the past 3 years and has again confirmed a funding pool of $50,000 to allow the foundation to offer grants in 2014-15 of up to $2,000 for each qualifying organization.

“Local user groups are non-profit organizations and definitely don’t have deep pockets”, says Laura Ubelhor from Southeast Michigan IBM i User Group (SEMIUG).  “It is important for members to have an opportunity to learn and grow.  We are grateful for the funds we have received from the Maxava iFoundation, which have significantly impacted the learning opportunities for our local user group members and also for students: the ever-so-important next generation of resource.”

The Wisconsin Midrange Computer Professional Association (WMCPA) used iFoundation grant funding to help finance a ‘Women in IT’ day in conjunction with its annual spring conference. Jim Buck, president of WMCPA reports: “The purpose of this day was to help young women develop an interest in Information Technology as a career, and to allow women who currently hold careers in IT to share their experiences, and interact with other female IT professionals. The event was a success with over 50 attendees. The WMCPA board has decided to hold a similar event in conjunction with our 30th Spring Conference in March 2015”. Mr Buck, a recent winner of the COMMON President’s Award, added: “We cannot overemphasize the importance of Maxava iFoundation grants in helping the IBM i community.”

Maxava iFoundation grants can be used to support activities such as educational conferences and workshops, speaker expenses, marketing and educational collaboration with local colleges and universities and other similar growth activities.

"Maxava is exclusively committed to the IBM i” said Allan Campbell, CEO of Maxava. “We established the iFoundation to encourage the continuing growth of the IBM i community and the development of the people that operate within it, and we are delighted to extend our support through the Maxava iFoundation for another year."

Interested organizations should visit www.maxavaifoundation.com to view application criteria and download the application form. Submissions should be received by 30 June
