Free 2-day forum clarifies strategic options for IBM i CIO

Seiden Group today announces that the next IBM i CIO Summit will feature a talk by special guest Heidi Schmidt, a leader in IT generational change and knowledge transfer, in addition to peer discussions and a face-to-face briefing by an IBM i executive. The CIO Summit, which is free to a limited number of CIOs and IT Directors with responsibility for application development, will take place March 23-24, 2020 in Dallas.

Ms. Schmidt draws on science to solve one of the biggest issues facing CIOs today—how to transfer knowledge of core business applications and processes to younger developers, while fostering new skills that lead to innovation. The ideas she will share at the CIO Summit are based on real-life application, developed through her work as managing partner of PKS Software. In her experience, companies can increase the performance of their teams by over 30%.

“IT executives must understand the forces that undermine learning and how to counteract them,” says Ms. Schmidt. “The science behind the Limbic system offers valuable clues to creating a positive culture of innovation that unlocks energy and collaboration within development teams.”

The CIO Summit, hosted by IBM Champions Alan Seiden, Susan Gantner, Jon Paris, and Paul Tuohy, provides a confidential setting for executive-level IT professionals to talk candidly about the challenges they face and to learn what techniques work for their peers. By exchanging ideas on how to increase the business value of IT, participants refine their vision and strategies for systems that include IBM i applications.

Two-time delegate Steven Wolk, Chief Technology Officer at PC Richard & Son, calls the CIO Summit “a great mix of quality networking and thought-provoking content. Very well planned and organized.”

The first day of the CIO Summit will feature open discussions on topics chosen by the group in advance and facilitated by Mr. Seiden. Conversation will be supplemented by talks with Ms. Schmidt and an executive from IBM who will brief the group on to the future of IBM i.

On the optional second day, CIO guests can join their developers at the RPG & DB2 Summit free of charge. The March 24 agenda includes sessions on such topics as IBM i development strategies and direction; a roundtable discussion on Future-Proofing Your IBM i Investment with Jon Paris, Susan Gantner, Paul Tuohy, and Alan Seiden; time to network with other CIOs and key IBM i architects; and opportunities to socialize and brainstorm with their own developers in an environment where leading development experts can answer questions on the spot.

The CIO Summit is a free event. To view the agenda, request an invitation, or nominate your CIO for the event, visit http://www.seidengroup.com/ibmi-cio-summit.
