EDCO Group Inc., a leader in healthcare document management services, has announced that it is merging with SolCom Inc., an innovative technology company.

Combining the two companies melds EDCO's nearly 50 years of medical records conversion and storage expertise with SolCom's proven healthcare software tools to put the new company on the forefront of technology, particularly for on-site day-forward scanning services.

SolCom Inc. was founded in 1995, by the software engineers responsible for the development, implementation and sales of IBM's groundbreaking document management systems.  Millions of dollars were invested in developing software designed to uniquely overcome challenges within the healthcare industry.

"EDCO has already devoted substantial resources toward cutting-edge, highly-automated processes for our backfile scanning and storage businesses," said Bill Glassman, CEO.  "SolCom's technology brings an exciting new dimension to EDCO for on-site scanning and electronic document management systems."

Advancements allow hospitals to maximize the benefits of their EDMS faster and at lower costs than before.  EDCO will incorporate SolCom's newly-developed Solarity technology into their on-site day-forward scanning services for rapid document-level indexing without requiring costly bar-coding or special forms.  The intelligent capture and indexing process is faster than traditional scanning and therefore the time it takes to move the records into billing is shortened significantly. Accelerating access to information also enhances patient care and boosts physician satisfaction.  Electronic images are also configured to seamlessly import into virtually any existing EDMS or EHR system.

EDCO's new combination of healthcare expertise, range of intelligent document capture services, paper, film and electronic document storage, and advanced EDMS technology results in innovative solutions specifically designed to achieve EMR goals more quickly.  Customers experience significant cost savings along with efficiency improvements immediately following implementation.
