m-Power Now Creates Cross-Platform Mobile Business Apps

Software tool developer michaels, ross & cole, ltd. (mrc) announced at COMMON a major breakthrough in mobile business application development: mrc has upgraded its development tool, m-Power, to automatically create cross-platform mobile business applications.

This enhancement fixes a significant problem facing businesses in need of mobile apps: Right now, there are six major smartphone platforms and four tablet platforms. If a business wants cross-platform mobile applications, they must build 10 different copies of each application. This is time consuming, expensive, and often requires new developers.

This m-Power enhancement gives businesses a fast and easy way to create cross-platform mobile apps. Now, when an m-Power user builds a web application, they have the option to automatically generate smartphone and tablet presentation layers of that web application. These applications offer a couple of unique benefits:

  • They work on every platform: Because the applications operate within the web browser, they work on every operating system and platform. For example, one smartphone presentation layer works the same on an iPhone, Blackberry, Android phone, etc… Likewise, the tablet presentation layer works regardless of tablet platform or OS.
  • They always look native: m-Power places logic within each application that checks the user's device and displays the appropriate presentation layer. That means applications created with m-Power always look and feel like native apps on all smartphones, tablets, and PCs/laptops.

m-Power's method of automatically creating tablet/smartphone presentation layers of web apps helps businesses in a few ways.

  • No programming: m-Power's point and click interface means that businesses can develop mobile apps without any programming.
  • Build mobile apps quickly: Because m-Power builds tablet, smartphone, and PC presentation layers of each application with one build process, businesses can develop their mobile apps quickly.
  • Use current staff/skills: Businesses can build their mobile apps using their current staff and skills. There's no need to bring in outside developers or force current developers to learn how to create mobile apps.
