QUSLOBJ can be used as both an enhancement to and even a replacement for QUSROBJD, and this article shows you how.
By Joe Pluta
As I detailed in a previous article, QUSROBJD allows you to see all the details of an object. However, it is specifically designed to return the data for a single object. For example, if you want to get the information for all the programs in a library (is this foreshadowing?), you'd need to have a way to list all those objects. QUSLOBJ is one way to do that, and it provides two basic approaches.
Even if you get all the right answers, modernizing an application is still a big project. To get everybody on board, let’s talk about its benefits for you, your boss, and your company.
By Rafael Victória-Pereira
As you probably realized just from reading the previous articles of this subseries (listed at the end of this article), modernizing an “outdated” IBM i application is neither cheap nor easy. So, you’re probably wondering what’s in it for you. If you discuss it with your boss, I’m sure she or he will certainly ask the exact same question. So let’s review a few of the possible benefits from a modernization initiative.

The annual Profound Logic ‘State of IBM i Modernization Survey” takes a look at the trends and attitudes that shape the IBM i modernization market. We reached out to the IBM i community, and the response was outstanding: close to 800 people, nearly 300 more than last year, took the survey. This enthusiasm resulted in very interesting findings for how businesses plan to use and modernize the platform in the coming year.
As you read through each section of the survey, you will see our summary of the results and suggestions for the future. We hope the survey will help your business better understand what is possible for your IBM i platform in the coming year.

ACO MONITOR is proven technology and is capable of processing thousands of mission-critical events daily. The software is pre-configured, easy to install, scalable, and greatly improves data center (and staff) efficiency.
It's time to continue our Big Data discussion. This article introduces the Hadoop framework, one of the most important and most commonly used tools in the Big Data world.
By Rafael Victoria-Pereira
In the previous article, I explained that the most widely accepted definition (if we can call it that) of Big Data is more data than you can manage (store, analyze, and so on) with some (usually high) intrinsic potential value. I also mentioned that these datasets are usually composed of one or more types of data-structured (think RDMS), unstructured (typically text data stored in log files), and a mix of the previous two (like JSON, for instance).
