Can I purchased a used AS400 system from a non-IBM business partner ? Is that legal to do ? How about if the system has Licensed programs still attributed to it, like the compiler. Can I get them transferred to me as well ? Would that cost extra ? TIA, Martin

I believe you can buy a used one no problem. Where you might run into trouble is getting any support from IBM. You need software maintenance to get patches, upgrades, etc. You need hardware maintenance to get hardware support. Maybe you could call a business partner that offers hardware/software contracts and see what this would cost you. It is probably pretty expensive.
