  • Telnet

Hi, Our network guys have come up with this possible problem. We have this scenario - anybody come acroos this? any ideas? The AS/400 is running Telnet to connect users. The new European infrastructure is now VPN/IPSEC How does the AS/400 handle Telnet delays? Will it disconnect or still hold the traffic thru a delay. A few versions back on the AS/400, Telnet was time sensitive and once it reached a 600ms delay it disconnected the session.. We need to find out if this is still the case. Here's why: VPN/IPSEC might present a delay in IP traffic and we don't want the sessions dropping to the AS400 . Thanks Carl

    Telnet

You might increase the telnet session keepalive timer value... CHGTELNA TIMMRKTIMO(NNNN) or CHGTELNA The default is 600 seconds (10 mins). A value of 0 means never timeout. Keep in mind if you increase it, you could potentially end up with unused open sockets waiting to timeout which may prevent new connections from being established.
