Thomas We have the same situation. We kept the Magstar drive and used the DUPTAP command to copy all archived tapes to 3580 cartridges. It does take time. Around one hour to copy one 5GB 3570 tape and 45 minutes to copy the newer 7GB tape. If you are dealing with a multiple volume backup set of tapes mount them all in your Magstar magazine. You will be amazed at how many 3570 tapes will fit on a single 3580. Steve

merging multiple magstar 3570 tapes into 1 LTO tape
HI, We are about to upgrade our old 720 (v5r1) to a new 520 (v5r4) and we will be using both LTO 2 tape drive and old 3570 tape drive (since we have been saving our system using 3570 for last few years). Is there a way to get these multiple magstar 3570 tapes into 1 LTO 2 tape? Thanks in advance, Thomas Kim
