You need to make sure your PC has been set up to allow Remote Commands. The first is a Service that you can get to through Administrator Tools. The service is iSeries Remote Command.... The second is the properties of the iSeries Access you are running. It too has a tab for remote commands. This has to be set to allow you to run. Then simply execute the command from an interactive session that you have open. For batch jobs you will have to use runrmtcmd. Check the iSeries manuals on the two commands at (IBM InfoCenter

STRPCCMD

Hi guys I have a MSWORD macro called "SAVEASDOC" which saves the RTF document as .DOC file. I have mapped the IFS directory which contains the RTF files to windows directory y: I need to convert all the RTF files in the IFS to .DOC. I need to execute the macro "SAVEASDOC" for the conversion. Can somebody tell me how to run that macro from AS/400 using STRPCCMD? Thanks a lot in advance. Have a nice day. Regards Nand.

From a Pc5250 iSeries session, STRPCO/STRPCCMD does not require the Incoming Remote Command feature of iSeries Access for Windows. I believe that STRPCCMD can execute any .bat or .exe file that you could execute from a Windows Command Prompt. If your MSWORD macro can be launched from a Windows Command Prompt, you should be able to use STRPCCMD. There is a PAUSE parameter that you can use as needed if you want the STRPCCMD command to wait for user interaction, or immediately end after launching the PC command.
