Ending batch jobs

The API QUSLJOB can take a specific job name, job # of *ALL and user id of *ALL to return a list of all jobs. The list is written to a user space, and job status of *ACTIVE is returned so you can tell if the job should be ended or not. Creating and navigating through user-spaces is a bit involved though, so you might want to google with 'QUSLJOB' to get an example of some working code. Ending batch jobs

What is the right way to end a job if you only have a job name and there are still jobs by that name on the system but in outq status? In other words, I want to end a certain job programatically. I can do that using the ENDJOB command and passing it the job name. But, if there are multiple occurances of the job on the system, and even if only one is active (the others are in outq status) I still get have to choose the job to end from a list of all jobs with that name. I don't want to see the list if only one job is active. I just want that job to end. How do I make that happen?
