I think you're much better off getting in touch with IBM software support if you have a SW Maintenance agreement. Bill

Due to current release level V5R2M0 we are without IBM software support. Tim Tyler

      Problem: Lost access to IFS

Are you on the final Cume PTF package? Can you still order PTFs?

        Problem: Lost access to IFS

Yes we are on the final PTF for that op system or we know of no new since our current TL05263 . Interesting, our senior programmer believes that the software is running out of temporary names and in attempting to reuse a temporary name results in the problem of loosing IFS access. In attempting to find out more on his theory is lost at the moment because we react immediatly when it happens and prepare for IPL without documenting the error messages.

          Problem: Lost access to IFS

On or about once per month we loose access to our IFS and resolve by IPL the system. The error message we receive is : MCH3601 "Pointer not set for location referenced." Cause: A pointer was used, either directly or as a basing pointer, that has not been set to an address. ...also this message appears; Software problem data for Qpollfs1 has been logged. My question: Is there a method or command to use to reset the pointers rather than shutting down the business with an IPL.

            Problem: Lost access to IFS

The current cume appears to be from April 2006, C6080520: http://www-912.ibm.com/s_dir/sline00...6?OpenDocument It looks like MF36653 needs to be applied before this cume. And there have been some V5R2 group PTFs issued since then, see http://www-912.ibm.com/s_dir/sline00...=30&Expand=3#3 A search on Qp0llfs1 shows a PTF you already have that fixes a problem that occurs if you do 2 billion IFS opens since the last IPL, MF32943.
